Tracing the origin of wood is a prerequisite for UPM Timber.
UPM verifies the wood raw material supplied both to company's own and external customer mills are
1. sustainably sourced
2. legally logged
3. procured according to the requirements of the international forest certification schemes.
UPM recognizes and utilizes all credible forest certification schemes, including the two major international ones - FSC® and PEFCTM.
UPM has integrated the program to our every day forest management through our forestry and wood Sourcing Guidelines:
1) native trees
2) dead wood
3) valuable habitats
4) water ecosystems
5) forest structure
6) natural forests
